Handwoven cushions: textile objects as luxurious gifts

During the Arab rule in Spain, it was traditional to give luxurious textile objects as gifts. At ÁBBATTE, we’ve sought to revive this custom by introducing a collection of handwoven cushions in natural silk, with backings in velvet, linen, or silk. Each one is filled with wool from sheep raised in the Aragonese Pyrenees and has an inner cover made of natural cotton.

The cushion is one of the most cherished elements in a home, used for naps, to get comfortable while reading, or simply to enjoy as a decorative piece. All of this contributes to making our homes a true reflection of our individuality.

At ÁBBATTE, clients are invited to take part in the creation of their piece: from choosing a unique natural colour, to visiting the workshop while the loom is being prepared, and witnessing how, pass by pass, a weaver brings the piece to life with painstaking attention to detail. This involvement allows them to be part of the creative process and to feel integrated into the ÁBBATTE team, something that has helped us win the hearts of many of our clients.

This is linked to a type of client who chooses pieces for their home that reflect their values, such as selective consumption, owning fewer but more meaningful objects, and embracing the handmade. These pieces embody ideals that are highly valued today, like the Slow movement, where craftsmanship plays a central role.

An ÁBBATTE product is one designed to accompany us for life, reminding us that the signature behind the piece is connected to a cultural and educational textile project, as is the case with ÁBBATTE.
