Blankets are for summer too
Why are blankets for summer, too?
In summer, we spend most of our time outdoors, and on its long cool evenings, there’s no more pleasant feeling than wrapping yourself in a natural fibre blanket to keep enjoying those cool evenings on boats, terraces, gardens, or even in the forest.

That’s why we shouldn’t associate blankets solely with winter; summer blankets exist, and they’re made of alpaca and silk. These natural fibre blankets provide a unique sense of comfort and insulation from outdoor temperatures. They’re perfect for protecting against the humidity of seaside nights or the chill of mountain altitudes.
The combination of alpaca and silk in the same weave results in a highly exclusive natural fibre, prized for its animal origin, softness, lightness, and comfort.
The blankets we weave at ÁBBATTE are made using one of the oldest textile methods. Though the technique has evolved slightly over time, the essence of the process remains unchanged. It’s a long and demanding process requiring deep dedication and skill, carried out by our team of local weavers.
For these summer blankets, we first select the alpaca and silk yarns, then prepare and align the threads on the loom to create the warp. Over this warp, we weave the weft threads, which gradually form the finished blanket.
From a single warp, we can obtain very different results depending on the weft used. Since the weft colour dominates in the weaving, each blanket turns out differently, even when sharing the same warp.
The latest warps we’ve assembled at the ÁBBATTE workshop feature natural, muted tones, in line with our brand philosophy, where quality is alive in every blanket. The pieces may show slight irregularities that reveal the weaver’s hand, making each one truly unique and unrepeatable.
